The 2008 SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur of the Year Award has been presented to Nanaimo Mom Martha Scully, founder of Canadian Sitter Inc. Residing in Nanaimo, Scully is the only company in BC to be awarded this honor. Scully found a great need for a service of this type while living in Oakville, Ontario, not being able to find a responsible, mature babysitter while on maternity leave. She modeled the concept after websites like match.com and Workopolis. Today, she owns and operates Canadiansitter.ca, an online childcare directory for parents and caregivers and three other highly successful websites, www.canadiannanny.ca, www.canadianadultcare.ca and www.childcareadvantage.ca. 

Scully invented this new way to find childcare in 2002, when it she created the first online database of babysitters across Canada.  To date, CanadianSitter Inc. is Canada’s largest and most trusted online source for babysitters, nannies and adult caregivers. In the past 6 years thousands of families across Canada have found an in-home care provider quickly, easily and affordably.
